Mission Statement:

To recognize achievement in international educational interchange and to serve as a catalyst to increase the recognition, credibility, and importance of the international experience, and to sustain a supportive community of individuals involved in international experiences at the University of Iowa.

Vision Statement:

International educational interchange at the University of Iowa will be actively promoted through meaningful recognition, and experiences of individuals involved in international educational interchange will be enhanced.

Values Statement:

The Alpha Tau Chapter of the Phi Beta Delta honor Society for International Scholars at the University of Iowa adopts the core values of diversity, inclusion, excellence, leaderships, and service.

The Alpha Tau Chapter strive to achieve the following goals:

  • To formally recognize staff, faculty, post-doctoral fellows and scholars, and especially students involved in international educational interchange at the University of Iowa. Recognition includes Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars medallion and membership diploma.
  • To support international educational interchange already happening at the university by providing individuals involved in international educational interchange a platform to discuss and address issues facing international educational interchange and to develop a supportive community.
  • To contribute to improving the campus climate by supporting individuals involved in international educational interchange.
  • To actively promote international educational interchange at the University of Iowa.
  • To contribute to the professional development of chapter members.
  • To organize and participate in activities that will further the mission of the chapter and the society.
